Greetings

Welcome to the Enlightener, my name is Adam Sanders and I am going to be your new guide through the world. This blog will serve the purpose of informing people on important issues, world events, music, movies, art, philosophy, and pretty much anything that seems interesting or fun. The most important part of this project is that people get to enjoy learning about what they want to. So the community will be just as important as the writer himself. Anything that you as readers would like to learn more about or just something you want to talk about, you can simply comment or message me whatever it is. I'll then research and talk about it here for all to see and join in. I will also periodically find important and interesting things that I believe people should be aware of and know about. So I hope you enjoy this blog and are excited to learn how to live an enlightened life.

The Dangers of Boredom

I feel as if I have been slowly conditioned into an insidious boredom, that consumes my thoughts with compulsions to do meaningless actions to distract myself from observing the world around me; and by doing so, this boredom has obstructed any possibility of perceiving reality in any true sense and has lulled me into some fantasy world that I feel I may never truly awaken from. For the terrible truth is my whole life I have not lived, for I have had any sense of true freedom stolen from me by the very people who attempt to force me to stay in this dream world. So it seems I must begin anew, almost as if I need to be birthed again and brought into the world as an infant and relearn what it means to be human. Since it seems we are rapidly losing that very humanity that sets us apart from other creatures on our planet. As our culture degrades around us into more and more shocking events that seem to stem from some arrogant, immature desire to simply out-do others in an attempt to show sup...

Mary Jane's Freedom

Marijuana does not have a very good stigma in the United States. It has been used for centuries without much incident or turmoil; but the last 100 years have been quite the opposite for cannabis. Cannabis, or hemp as it was more commonly referred to, has been used by tribal leaders and spiritual shamans forever to cure illnesses and pains. Its influence even stretches all the way to the Declaration of Independence, which was written on a piece of hemp paper. Back in the late 1700’s it was grown for a wide plethora of uses including such necessities as writing paper, rope, oil, clothing, and even shoes. That’s not even to mention the list of medical ailments that cannabis can help treat and even cure. Even though cannabis has all these well-known uses, the new century brought about a propaganda campaign against marijuana that rivals that of the Third Reich. Born out of the racism brewing within the American people and the distrust of foreigners, the government decided to jump ...

Crossroads

Take a moment and breath, in then out, slowly but surely release for just a second that tension you carry heavy on your shoulders. The chest contracts then relaxes steadily now and pulse slows back down but the cold feeling doesn't quite leave. What is this frost, this numbness that bites through to the soul. Feeling less than numb, more than sober, worse off than one could tell. It seems that no light shines at all in this darkness, this purgatory like void begotten of all the warmth once known. But wait, the glare of the moonlight catches the eye of the bewildered man and steals away all vigilance, leading the man astray into the woods. He began to stumble, darkness still prevailing as he fumbled into a vast wilderness of the unknown. This pervasive black sea seemed to smother the man, his sorrows drowning out the fear as he beat his way forward. Bewildered before, now thoroughly lost the man looks up and realizes he has hit a crossroads. Seeing a sign he moves fo...
